My students are 9th graders with disabilities. Our school is 50% low income and my students need exposure to technology while they are in high school. Resource room consists of eight students who need extra help for one period a day on their core subjects (English, Math, Science, and Social Studies). It can be frustrating when my students have to type an essay, but don't have access to a laptop. Since we are a small class, we often don't get access to laptops like the larger classes. This laptop would be dedicated to simply being in our resource room as an additional resource that students could use. It would also allow me to teach them how to use the computer to format essays (double space, spell-check, etc.).
