Our Gifted and Talented learners are from the first through the fifth grades. Our school is unique in that it serves a wide demographic. As a Title 1 school, we serve over 70% students of color, with 54% free or reduced lunch. They bring with them their own individual stories, perspectives, and challenges. In our program, these become shared experiences. The group thrives because they are a group of individuals, empowered by their own sense of their place in the world. Of course, as a school that serves many low-income and at-risk students, it's imperative that we provide an environment that helps to fill in the gaps that may exist in the students' homes. That means providing the resources, the energy, and the means for the students to achieve the greatest success possible. Gifted and Talented students have amazing potential and we have a responsibility to help them reach whatever heights are in their grasp.

About my class
