Have you ever heard someone say, "When will I ever be using this in real life?". Well, I taught 8th Grade Math and Algebra I and it is the number one question in my class when we are bridging from concrete math into higher level abstract math topics. With the TI-Innovator Rover and TI-Hub, students will be able to experience a new way to see math...IN MOVING ACTION. They will write their own program for the TI-Innovator while applying their knowledge of coordinate planes, slope, y-intercept, and equations of lines to write code to have the Rover complete a series of tasks. Further, the TI-Innovator Hub enables students to learn and apply basic coding in an exciting way, which sparks interest into 21st century technology and become innovators and inventors. By donating to our project, you are making it possible for my students to engage with something beyond the scope of the standard curriculum and open their minds to a whole new world of possibilities. Moreover, the uses of the TI-Innovator Rover and TI-Innovator Hub provide opportunities for students to collaborate with their peers, foster their creativity, and explore math in a different perspective. Additionally, it provides students with ample opportunities to develop 21st century skills, such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and technology competency.
