My students are motivated sophomores and seniors that work hard in the classroom. They are continually striving to get better grades and always amaze me with their motivation and dedication. They come to me from Title I elementary and middle school environments. They are taught to be technologically savvy, yet when they get to the high school level, they are being forced to share a fixed number of resources while in school, and often don't have access to working technology outside of school. In the classroom, I am seeing a growing disparity between the few students who can bring in a laptop or tablet and those who cannot afford the the lunches they are served every day. Those who have easier access to technology are being more creative and productive. Yet it is all to often that I am asking many of them to be creative with just low-tech paper and colored pencils.
