I have 19 ESL students. All of my students families are from Mexico. Their parents are very supportive and participate in as many activities at school as they can. We are all trying to get back on track after the storm. We were without power for over 10 days. Many of their parents lost work during this time. I still try to give my students every experience I can. It is important to build background knowledge. If we are reading about making bread, then we are making bread in class. There is a push now to expose children to nonfiction reading materials. Our school doesn't have a lot of resources.
