My students attend elementary school in a middle class California neighborhood. They are part of a heterogeneous third grade classroom servicing a range of abilities from autism to gifted and talented students, all in one learning environment! Needless to say, I spend a majority of my time differentiating the learning that must take place in our classroom. Although our school is located in a middle class neighborhood, we have faced serious financial cuts for the past three years due to the California state budget crisis. Due to these cuts, our class sizes have been increasing each year with some of our classes totaling 37 students. All of the aforementioned issues require teachers to implement efficient and motivating learning in order for our students to be successful.
