I teach an Independent Living Skills class that focuses of functional academics and life skills for students with severe disabilities. The students in my class range in disabilities from severe autism to Downs Syndrome. They face challenges daily, whether it is in social skills, math, or reading. I am amazed every day with the progress and skills my students gain. They are a great group of students who always try their best and are eager to learn. My students teach me lessons daily about compassion, patience, and overcoming obstacles. Lesson planning and having resources for all of their needs is a challenge. This project will allow my students to have more access to activities that their same age peers enjoy.
