While I have built many relationships with community members in order to provide those opportunities, I work in a high-poverty school and many of my students do not have art materials needed to participate. The set design crew who work to create backdrops and other props for the school play are a diverse group of Caucasian, Hispanic, African American, and/or Special Education and ESOL students. Due to socio-economic obstacles and decreased school budgets, they do not have access to the art materials needed for this extra curricular opportunity.
