Being a small rural school district, my students have an active quality about them that can only come from the exposure to outdoor activities and the involvement and support of our small community. It creates a vibrant and active class. But no matter where you teach, kids come in a variety and that is what makes my class so great. I want to be able to assist them in their learning goals by creating an environment that will help them succeed in whatever we have to learn for the day, inside the classroom. For students that spend the majority of their time at home playing outside, practicing sports and being active in other ways, it is unfair to ask them to all sit still in the same chair and desk environment for long periods of time during the school day. For many students, physical movement is a successful way to promote creativity, and even improve focus. I want to be able to provide this for all of my students.
