My students are unique population of Gr. 4-6 Children with Autism. It is a sensory based class with multiple disabilities and challenging behaviors. They work more on functional activities and daily living skills. A structured work system is of great benefit to most of these kids. They benefit from a system that helps them to independently answer the questions: 1. What work do I have to do? 2. How much do I have to do? 3. How will I know when I am finished? 4. What do I do next? This type of system helps give them a clear idea of what is expected of them and helps them to understand that there is a clear start and finish to his work sessions. Most of the time, Language deficit is a major problem and thus social skills are being taught. If they are not able to communicate their needs they show different behaviors to make their needs known.
