One area my students struggle with is writing. At five years old, some children have never held a pencil or have written letters on a line before. Some students are lacking with their fine motor skills. My students need an easel, write and wipe whiteboards and erasers. Having a whiteboard will allow them the opportunity to practice writing independently. For many children this is their first experience with writing. Using a dry erase marker is much easier than a pencil for beginning writers. It allows them to feel the movement of the marker and form the letter more smoothly. People write to communicate and express themselves; that is no different for kindergartners. Having the mobile whiteboard easel will allow me to model writing to the whole class. The children will be able to practice their writing independently on their own whiteboards, making it easier for me to guide them with their writing. The smile on a child's face after they have written a word for the first time, on their own, is priceless.
