Our School/District Alief Independent School District is a pre-k -12th public school district that covers a small portion of southwest Houston area, serving over 45,000 students. The district has 5 high schools, 6 middle schools, 6 intermediate schools, and 24 elementary schools. Our school, Bush Elementary, is a Title 1 school serving 987 culturally diverse students (27.7% African American, 1.2% White, 68% Hispanic, 0.5% Native American, and 2.6% Asian). Bush Elementary School surpasses the district, and the state by all academic risk factors including, 93.7% economically disadvantaged, 82.2%, at risk, and 67.8% limited English proficiency.
