Columbus is the only arts magnet school in our town. There's a lottery enrollment each year for potential incoming students. Our school is so popular because we use the Bank Street method of learning which teaches children to become lifelong learners by interacting with their environment (people, places, and things) and interpret experience. Children are encouraged to take ownership of their learning. Classrooms are organized so that teaching strategies encourage students to make discoveries, observations and explorations. We are also a H.O.T. School which means that our approach to learning is hands-on with an arts integration focus. Our PTA runs various afterschool enrichment programs for our students. We would like to offer a program for third thru fifth grade students interested in sharing their art & culture and learning more about the art & culture in China. There would be about 20 students in the program
