My students come from a poverty stricken, urban area in Nebraska, and 90% of our student population receives free or reduced lunch rates. My students must overcome obstacles on a daily basis. For many of my students, this includes a language barrier as many of them receive services from our English as a Second Language program. Even with all of the challenges my students face, they are eager to learn, and they are constantly looking for new academic opportunities that will further allow them to grow as students. As a teacher, I truly believe that all of my students are capable of obtaining their goals, and I hold high academic expectations for each of them.
