I teach in a rural and low income community serving students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade with special needs. Our special day classroom is an environment that promotes learning, exploration and fun! The students in my classroom have needs that range from moderate to severe. Many of the students have communication delays and use visual pictures to communicate in their environment. Our classroom is a very language based program. Our goal for students is to teach them the functional skills they need to be active members in their community. We work on functional academics that relate to real life experiences.
