My school includes a wide-variety of students. From our highest achieving AICE-level learners to students who are struggling to get on grade level in reading and math; I have the opportunity to interact with all types of students through my unique Career Technical Education (CTE) Program. Students in the program come from a wide-variety of homes. From students who live in poverty and struggle for daily needs to those who face enormous pressure to succeed at home and everyone in between my classroom has become a place where learning is FUN and making mistakes is okay. My CTE Program HELM (Helping Educate Leaders in Maritime) utilizes community learning opportunities including field trips, guest speakers, hands-on projects and more to encourage all students to seek careers in the Maritime Industry. The students in my program are hungry for knowledge and excited about their futures and deserve the world!
