beyond Fullerton School District serves a diverse population of TK-8th grade students from varied beyond-economic backgrounds, with more than 44% of children qualifying for Title I and 34 home languages spoken district-wide. Our school population reflects this diverse nature of Fullerton. Our classrooms aim to prepare our students with college-and career-ready skills enabling them to lead in a globally connected economy and society. The ability to engage students in conversation is essential for their understanding of the complex topics they are studying. My 5th grade class is a self-contained, fully identified GATE class with 34 students. Emphasis is to differentiate by means of acceleration, depth, complexity, and creativity. My students are challenged to go “beyond”. The use of technology will allow me to individualize the instruction more efficiently. Monitoring their performance and giving immediate feedback will be a major factor in increasing their level of performance.
