My students are typical 7th grade middle school students who dislike English, because it hasn't been their best subject through the years. My goal this year is to make them love reading, because it is a lifelong skill they will need that I hope to develop into a passion. My school is a Title 1 school with high levels of poverty. Students do not have access to supplies, books, computers, etc. In History class, it is difficult for them to do the research needed, because they don't have computers at home. One half of our school is IB (International Baccalaureate), so our school receives no funding for its Title 1 kids. I teach these kids. They deserve to be treated like the IB kids and exposed to the same literature and schooling. They deserve a happy, positive, fulfilling future.
