We are a Title I (high poverty) school in Alabama, servicing students from kindergarten to sixth grade. We have approximately 600 students at our school. Roughly three fourths of our schools receive free lunch. My students are precious first graders that are excited about learning. However, most of them come from low socio-economic homes where little reading takes place. Unfortunately, more often than not, very few of our parents help their child with homework. These children need someone to show them just how precious they are.
