Flexible seating in the kindergarten classroom will help my students take ownership in their learning by allowing them to choose where they feel comfortable to work, socialize, and play in the classroom. The products I have chosen for this project will help my 5 and 6 year old students move around the room to find where they work best and get some of their "wiggles out" which they cannot do while sitting at a table in a traditional classroom setting.
Flexible seating options will give my students the opportunity to move within the classroom to where they feel most comfortable to do their best work. Comfy floor cushions will be used while reading or at a writing station with clipboards, the portable lap desks will be used around the room during stations, and the balance disks can be used in chairs for students who may still want to sit at a table, but need a little movement as they work. Giving my students choice in where they work, as well as the opportunity for movement, will make a lasting positive impact in the classroom.
