We call our classroom the "Red Hot Chili Peppers". We are a very diverse group, Hispanic, Hmong, Indian, Pakistani, Dominican Republic, African American and White. We live in the neighborhood but almost 50% of our children receive free and reduced price lunches. Yet, these students are especially bright and love to learn. Recently we were the top class of the second grade in passing Scholastic Reading Counts points. In other words, this class works very hard and has great potential. We have fewer and fewer resources with which we can benefit. This is our only chance to be in the 2nd grade. We want it to be the best year possible. The overhead projector we were using had been dropped and just gave out. The replacement is not much better. It's definitely blurry and the students have difficulty reading the projected words. An Elmo would be a gift to each of us. Please help our dream become reality. Thank you so much for considering our request.
