I teach all core subjects to a group of nineteen hard working third graders. We are a Title I school, which means we serve as a percentage of free and reduced lunch. The majority of my students come from low-income, rural households. Most seldom see the world beyond their own small community. Children come to school without the basic knowledge and exposure that they need to be successful. Because of this, the first few years, we play catch up and expose the students to as much literature and culture as we can to get them ready for what is to come.
