Our school caters to economically disadvantaged students where their families can barely afford basic necessities, much less luxuries like the computer. Being a Title I school, we receive federal funding, and serve more than 75-80% economically disadvantaged students. Yet, in spite of these challenges our students still dream of going to college. I specifically work with students who are dyslexic, IRLEN, and academically challenged. I believe that as long as these students are given the right resources to succeed they can have an equal chance and opportunity to be academically successful.
