My school is a Title 1 school that is part of a large urban district. My students are from diverse backgrounds and are in the first year of a Dual Language Immersion Program. I teach two classes of second grade, each for half of the day. My half of their instruction covers Math, Science, English and Social Studies. My students are active and engaged learners and they are making great strides toward mastering our second grade objectives. I want to make sure they have all the tools that could help them practice new skills and connect with the lessons I teach each day. Many students have difficulty developing a conceptual understanding of math and science ideas and hands-on materials help by allowing them to represent the ideas in multiple ways.
