Our middle school offers Introduction to Spanish, Spanish I, a high school credit course, and Spanish for Spanish Speakers, a 2 year high school credit course. The district offers bilingual primary school programs. We have all levels of Spanish speakers with a variety of backgrounds and wish to sustain their bilingualism. One of the best ways is through independent reading in Spanish. Our school has a reading time one day a week and I would like to be able to have the students in my classes read in Spanish during that time to promote their choosing books on their own in Spanish. To do that I need to offer them interesting choices for their grade and Spanish knowledge level, from beginners to advanced at middle school level, and have varied books available for their reading.
