We are a 7-8th middle school in Omaha, Nebraska. We have a population of about 850 kids in our school. We serve a population that is very high poverty rate, and our free and reduced lunch rate is about 87% this year. We have kids who live in the projects, and kids who live in very nice homes with upper middle class parents. Our population is largely Hispanic, and immigrants from Africa (Sudan, Somalia, Kenya). We recently got a grant to get computer carts in some classes, which is shown in my picture. Our district struggles because we are the largest district in Nebraska, and we have the highest poverty rate because we are an urban district. I try very hard to make my classroom colorful and welcoming, and I try to only ask for what I can't get myself.
