The student population where I teach is 98% Latino. The majority come from homes with low income and challenging situations. Our students' lives are tinged by violence, drug use, gang activity and uncertainty about their future. Many times school is the only sanctuary for them to escape the realities of their circumstances. The most wonderful thing about my kids is how much love and kindness they display in spite of the adversities they face.

About my class
