My students have the curiosity and imagination that sparks the true nature of Science. My students need to have the opportunity to explore their surroundings by using fun-filled thinking skills in a hands-on approach. To achieve the academic skills needed for my students in their upcoming skills, we need to help them achieve ways to think out of the box. Our school is a Title 1 school and more than 90% of the students come from homes that cannot provide these hands-on experiences for them. Due to budget cuts this year, we are in desperate need of materials that can make learning science a life-long experience for the students. Science is not a paper and pencil type of subject, it is mostly based on observations and higher order thinking skills. Becoming a scientist starts for children when they are babies, and it builds with everything they explore and see throughout their lifetime. My students are full of inquisitive questions, and they love to explore to find these answers.
