Our small Louisiana school is located in an economically challenged area. Approximately 70% of our students are on free or reduced priced lunch. Some are homeless, while others live in impoverished neighborhoods. Our demographic is very diverse. While fifty-five percent of our students are Caucasian, the other forty-five percent are minorities. Thirty-eight percent are African-American, and the other seven percent are Hispanic, Asian, Native American, and Native Alaskan. Our students range in scholastic ability; yet, students of all levels are provided opportunities to work cooperatively to produce meaningful products that encourage academic growth. Many of our students have limited technology and resources at home; thus, our school strives to give our students opportunities to work with as much technology as possible.
