Our district is one that supports the arts in many ways and many of my students are involved in more than one of our ensembles which include band, orchestra, and chorus. There is a great love for music in our school and many students stay after school hours to participate in special ensembles that our music faculty offers. This year, I wanted to push to offer a guitar course. However, there were not funds available to start such a class. I feel that the guitar reaches out to a really wide audience including students not typically thought of as "music kids." Through online donations, I now have 10 guitars, enough to have a very nice class. The course has now been approved as an official class for next year and a test run is taking place this semester.. However, we do not have books for the class. While I am working hard to generate materials myself, a good book with recordings is an irreplaceable resource!
