These materials will improve student learning in my classroom. A number of my students show an improvement in productivity when they know they are working for a prize from the treasure box, and all students will have an opportunity to work for the treasure box prizes.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they have a choice in the seat they use. Wiggle seats are inflatable cushions that sit on top of any chair. They will assist students in being "active sitters" so that they are able to better concentrate on the lesson. Have you tried sitting in a professional development session or class on a hard seat recently? Even for just a short amount of time, it can be challenging!
In addition, I am short on supplies that are very much needed for individual students, including chew necklaces which provide needed sensory input for students who need it, rather than chewing on unsafe supplies in the classroom. Others benefit from using a slant board to improve good upper body positioning for writing tasks.
I have seen how individualizing my students' needs can positively affect their work and demeanor and hope that the additional supplies will help us grow even more!
