I teach at a California school that is classified as a Title I school. One third of the students at our school receive free or reduced price lunch. Many of them are classified as ELD students and come from homes where English is not spoken. In our class alone there are three different languages, other than English, spoken by our students as their primary language. I have the pleasure of teaching students who are incredibly curious and love to learn new concepts. They become more engaged and can barely contain their excitement when given the opportunity to explore ideas with manipulatives and small group instruction. They communicate with each other very well and are excellent at working in teams. It is clear that the students in my class love to learn.
