My students are high school theatre students who pour their heart, soul, blood, sweat, and tears onto the stage. Many of the actors double as technical students as well, building sets, running lights and sound, and changing sets. They call the theatre their second home, and they spend enough time there to justify it. In 2011 we didn't have a tech class at all, and the actors still pulled off a showcase, two main stage productions, and a musical. We got the class back in 2012, but we continue to need the resources to make it work! Being that this is a public school, and in California, its pretty clear that we are a self-supporting program. We aren't funded by the state; it is up to us to run our entire program off of ticket sales, donations, fundraising, and the support of our community. We are the arts. Theatre is life. Measure twice, cut once. Build it. Tech Yeah!
