We are known as the Friendly Frogs. This year my class is filled with little tadpoles that are eager to turn into big frogs. They love to listen to me read. The expression and intonations I use when reading aloud to them makes them so engaged in the story. For them to hear what good reading sounds like is so important for them to turn into good readers themselves. Most first graders are just emerging as readers. When they hear the fluidity and expression in reading the story comes alive. This motivates them to want to read accurately. If I can provide them with a place to listen to more stories, then I can provide them more opportunities to become better readers.
