This is my student's first year in an English classroom setting. Learning a second language is difficult for them and I do everything that I can to make the transition as easy and fun as possible to avoid frustration and/or them shutting down. My students love to read but they also love being exposed to the latest technology. My students have access to the computer lab once a week for one hour and they look forward to it more than they do recess. My students have varying levels of learning abilities, from GT, ESL, Special Ed to economically disadvantaged. My school is considered to be a Title 1 school, where the majority of our students receive free and reduced lunches, as a result, most of them do not have much of an opportunity to read at home, have books available, much less a computer to access and download books and stories that are available. Very few of them have ever seen or read on a tablet/computer.
