It is very difficult to explain science to learning-disabled children through the use of textbooks. My students are tactile learners. They understand by seeing, touching, and engaging in interactive lessons. The materials I put into my cart will finally allow me to make a HUGE difference in their understanding. The Large Human Torso along with the Human Body model bundle, would finally give the students hands on with the different organs we're going to learn about. As many pictures as I show them, they can't get the full understanding of where the organs are in relation to each other. This is what the models will show them! I plan on hanging the Large Inflatable Solar System from the ceiling, putting the Sun directly in the center of the room. The placement of the planets will give them a relative scope of how far each is in orbit from the sun and each other. We never had a microscope to review for the Science performance assessment, my students have to take in May. With a microscope, I will be able to effectively prep them for the microscope driven questions Our science curriculum is a combination of Earth Science, Life Science, Biology, Environmental, and Physical Science. If I were able to have these materials for my classroom, I know that not only would the visuals spark excitement in my students, but allow them to relate the material to the interactive displays. After 25 years of dedicated teaching, I need to generate more excitement for not only the students, but myself. I truly thank you for considering helping me create my dream science classroom!
