I have a diverse class in a suburban school district in the Pacific Northwest. My school is undergoing increasing diversification in terms of socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds. My students are good readers but need challenging expository/non-fiction reading. I am working on building a strong classroom library that features diverse content-area reading materials, particularly in social studies, world poetry, and math/science themes.
