My students are from the inner city in Wisconsin. They attend a public school and are special education students are in grades 6-8, they are in a most restrictive placement (MRP) classroom. Many of them have emotional behavior disorders (EBD) and face day to day challenges dealing with the criticisms of others who think they're "dumb" or "retarded". My students believe that people look at them differently because they're in the classroom. A few years ago they were given a SmartBoard but it got taken out and given to another class. My students face challenges on a daily basis whether it's having to deal with adult situations as a child or the normal struggles one goes through at school. Deep down my students want to be the children they still are, but they try to save face by acting tough not only towards other students but adults as well.
