Our students are approximately 75% African American, 25% Hispanic (75% on free lunch). These students are attending an inner city school and have the capacity to learn and become successful individuals if given a hand up instead of a hand out. The student body at our school is used to not having enough and they rarely venture far from their home neighborhood. It is my hope that in teaching them Chemistry in a hands on fashion (labs) that the students will gain admission into College and change the vicious cycle which has depressed the lives of so many in this area.
