My kindergarten students learn in different ways, such as seeing outstanding visuals, actively participating in activities, listening and speaking, and even while singing. However, they all learn best through small group settings. My students are ethnically, socioeconomically, and academically diverse. Some children are limited in English. Some come knowing how to read while others enter my room knowing no letters, colors, shapes, or numbers. I want to reach and enrich each one of their lives. I want to open their ears to hear great books which will open their minds to many worlds! Like Dr. Seuss says, €œOh, the places they will go! One common denominator among all these children is the desire to learn to read and to read well. Research has shown that listening to quality stories on CD can help foster a love of reading, increase the student's expressive language and vocabulary, and help increase listening comprehension as well as fluency.
