Our school is a fantastic hub of learning for our students. Many of our students come to school with little or no background in reading or math. We more or less start with a child that has never been read to at home. Many of our students are from poverty. We have to build a background of knowledge before we can reach for these higher standards. Our students love to learn, and struggle at times to grasp everything that is expected of them. However, our teachers go back and work with each student and most progress nicely. We want the books so they can reach the top. Our P.T.O. isn't wealthy so we need help from grants to build up our resources so our students have the same opportunity as the rest of the students. Our students end up scoring as well as most others in the county. We are so proud of them and how much they learn. In many cases they learn 2 grade levels of material each year. Books are needed so badly since school media budgets have been cut each year.
