Technology is currently his only means of communication and the device he has been provided with traps him even more. Being a student with a disability immediately puts him at a disadvantage and if he is not able to answer a problem society will tell him that it is ok. € However, it is not €œok.€ This student is completely capable of effectively communicating at home and in the classroom, but needs a different means of support in doing so. As a teacher, I differentiate my instruction in order to scaffold my students learning. Whether this would be for second language students, students with physical disabilities, or students with cognitive disabilities, I will do whatever it takes to assist my students. However, if there is assistance that will be more effective than me, especially through means of technology, then that is a road that I will begin to travel.
