We have a diverse group of learners in our school. We are a STEM school and I now teach Science and Social Studies for second grade. With our new scheduling this year I have a huge block of time to work with each of my classes. I like to include reading into our daily schedule. The students like to read nonfiction books about what we are learning in class. I do not have a lot of nonfiction books for my centers. A big part of our Science Unit is Weather. A weather station would also help my students to have first hand knowledge of how weather data is collected. We are a small elementary school in the state of North Carolina. Many of my students can not afford school supplies, and do not have a lot of support at home. I try everything I can to make sure they have what they need to be a success in our class and school.
