Our classroom has a wide range of learners on several different levels. We are in a high poverty area, which is a reason we need added support for our literacy area at school. We have been working hard to implement the Common Core State Standards. These new set of standards require a variety of literacy texts that will support levels for each student to achieve. We encourage reading for comprehension. We use the Accelerated Reader Program to make it fun for students to check understanding.
