We are a small and rural district. Having access to updated LEGO equipment will keep my students on pace with more affluent districts. They will compete in First LEGO League and be able to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills as they program the robot to solve presented missions. They will experience repeated failures and develop the perseverance to continue working to solve the mission. Failing repeatedly on a worksheet leads to students who want to give up. Failing with a robot has a different outcome. Students are anxious to return to the drawing board and make slight changes until they get to the desired outcome. It’s exciting to watch the students never give up.
