My students are wonderful. They have learned to be open to new things, which for middle school is difficult since it is so important to be "cool." We do behavior raps, sing songs to remember important information and sometimes act a little crazy if it helps learning. They are eager to learn. For instance I had the classes listen to opera to help them understand that the elements of a song were much like the elements of a story with an introduction, rising action, a climax etc. They did not have to understand the words to pick out the elements. They were so into learning with music I have incorporated music in may of my lessons. My students are not angels by any means, but they are willing to try just about anything I ask them to do with only a minimum of trying to maintain their "rep." You can often hear, "What goes on in Ms. W's room stays in Ms. W's room." In The Last Days of Lincoln Project, My students will be enthralled by the reading of a non-fiction book and the activities.
