I teach 12 classes of 5th and 6th grader for intervention reading and math for a total 110 students ranging in ages from 10-13. This is a 5th-6th grade upper elementary academy with 600 students. According to Mississippi state testing, a lot of these students fall within the low to mid academic performance level in math. 100% of our school qualifies for free or reduced price lunch. My classes are cooperative and inquisitive. Additionally, I teach more boys and they are naturally competitive. Also, I have discovered that wiggly boys tend to preform better when movement is implemented into the lesson. The relevant characteristics of the students' range of academic abilities are from 3rd to 5th grade.
