Who thinks reading a on cold, tile floor sounds exciting? My students love to take part in group reading activities and small group instruction. Unfortunately, having to sit hunched over on the cold floor causes distractions, discomfort, and less effective discussions. My students attend an inner city charter school in Pennsylvania. Many students come from families that work hard to ensure their children will receive a quality education. Small amenities, such as this table, are symbols that confirm our families have reached their goal! I have a wonderful group of kids. They are very respectful and fun loving. Being fourth graders, they are eager to share every story related to topics covered. We have made reading and writing groups work, but having a table will create a more comfortable and appropriate place for instruction.
