Our students are wonderful, curious, capable and energetic, and yet many begin with numerous challenges and obstacles. Our most challenging need are those children starting without mastery of English. Others begin with limited social skills or preparation for school. For many, school is their first introduction to a culture of learning, to knowing the alphabet or numbers. They are fortunate to attend a good school with a dedicated staff in a healthy learning environment, but many require more resources than we have available to us. Learning tools that enable the most capable in the most fortunate schools to rocket ahead are seldom available to our students -- especially at the critical start of their learning experience. At this start, they not only gain the foundations for their learning career, but they have their first and best opportunity for self-discovery and to find the personal rewards of learning. That's why it's critical to reach them immediately and powerfully!
