My High School is located in Brooklyn, NY. Many students are intelligent, inquisitive and outgoing. However I also have many students who are withdrawn emotionally from personal, home or life situations. Over 90% of the students that attend my school are at or below the poverty rate. Therefore its extremely hard for them to shop for healthy foods or join a gym. Many students are obese and they haven't been taught dangers of obesity at a young age. I am starting a fitness club in the hopes of giving students an opportunity to learn about their bodies, make new friends, exercise, relieve stress and get fit. Another important reason for this fitness club is to give my students a positive place to go and not be on the streets, where it is very dangerous for them. A majority of my students are from various Caribbean Islands, some only being in the US for a month or two. Sports and physical activity do not have language barriers and your donation would really help my students.
